Our reverse engineering pipeline starts with high-resolution 3D scanning to capture the physical geometry as a point cloud. From there, we reconstruct a parametric CAD model — or use the scan mesh directly — and 3D print the part in the material of your choice. The entire process from scan to printed part takes days, not weeks.

What types of parts can be reverse engineered?

Any solid object — plastic housings, metal brackets, cast components, organic shapes. The only limitation is scanner access to all surfaces.

How accurate is the 3D scanning process?

Our structured-light scanners capture surface data to within ±0.05 mm. For larger parts, photogrammetry can achieve ±0.1 mm over several meters.

Can you create a parametric CAD model from a scan?

Yes. We can deliver a mesh-based STL for direct printing, or a fully parametric STEP/IGES file for future modification.

How long does the reverse engineering process take?

Scanning takes 1–2 hours. CAD reconstruction takes 1–3 business days depending on complexity. Printing adds 1–3 days.

Can I modify the design after scanning?

Absolutely. Once we deliver the CAD model, you can add features, adjust dimensions, or optimize the design before printing.
