BD-Width Filament ⌀ Sensor
Optical filament width & motion sensor — real-time flow compensation and jam/runout detection for 3D printers.
Description
The BD-Width, invented by the talented Mark Yue, sits on your filament path and continuously measures diameter and movement using a CCD linear sensor. This enables real-time flow rate compensation — no more over/under-extrusion from inconsistent filament, higher accuracy on fine details — and reliable jam/runout detection that pauses your print before it fails.
Specs
- Width accuracy: ±0.01 mm
- Connection: USB or I²C
- Firmware upgradeable via USB
- Zero calibration needed — plug in and go
What's included
- BD-Width sensor
- 1.3 m I²C cable
- 1.5 m USB Type-C cable
Fully transparent filaments can't be measured for width, but motion tracking still works — so jam and runout detection remain functional even with clear materials.
